The Lock Guru Salon is a natural hair salon that specializes in Sisterlocks. The Salon was founded by Rachel Bates, a licensed cosmetologist and Certified Sisterlocks Consultant.
Rachel has been a licensed Master Cosmetologist for 9 years and a Sisterlock consultant for 8. She has worked in several salons that have granted her experience dealing with customer care and hair. She prides herself in her passion for clean, consistent and stylist work.

I am so excited to share my testimony about my experience with hairstylist: Rachel Bates, aka Lock Guru. Rachel did an awesome job with my hair (I got a wash, cut and style). She spent a lot of time thoroughly cleansing my hair, making sure she was extremely gentle and attentive. I have to say that it was the best shampoo & deep conditioning treatment I’ve ever had! It felt so good afterwards. And then she taught me how to define my curls. This was important to me, because although I’ve been natural for a while, I don’t know much about how to make my curls pop and how to change up my style from day-to-day. A little background: I am in colon cancer remission, so I’ve gone through several surgeries, chemotherapy, spent time rebuilding my strength, going to doctors and physical therapy appointments, so lately I have neglected my hair. Rachel was incredible because she not only did do a fantastic job with my hair, but she also shared her “hair philosophy” and educated me along the way.
